Mathura Nagar Nigam election 2017 results LIVE: BJP's Mukesh Arya is new Mayor
BJP's Mukesh Arya won the tightly contested Mayoral election for Mathura which was voting for the first time after the Yogi Adityanath government recently merged Mathura and Vrindavan to constitute the Mathura Nagar Nigam.
The election results for the Mathura Nagar nigam elections 2017 will be announced today. On November 26, a total of 70 wards went to the ballot boxes in the second phase of the UP urban local body election.The counting of votes for the results began at 8am today and will continue till resuts of each ward under the Mathura Nagar Nigam are announced.This is the first election for the recently merged Mathura and Vrindavan municipal boards which now constitute the Mathura Nagar Nigam.
In the Mathura Nagar Nigam election 2017, the main parties are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP).

- In Mathura Nagar Nigam, BJP's candidate Mukesh Arya polled 41,222 votes while Congress' Mohan Singh polled 4,706 less votes and came in second with 36,516.

The voting for the three phases of Uttar Pradesh Local Elections 2017 was held on November 22, 26 and 29. A total of 52.3 per cent of voter turnout was recorded in all.
